Uploading images and using them in articles and wikis
DIYReef.org provides a System Gallery to store images used in the articles. As a registered user, you can upload images into the gallery and then add links to your article to show the images.
The Menu
To upload images to the System Gallery, select the 'Upload image' menu item in the 'Image Galleries' Parent Menu.
Upload Image Files
Upon clicking the 'Upload image' menu item, you will be presented with the
Upload Image page:
Single File
To load up a single file, select the
Upload from disk: Browse Button. Entering the
Image name and
Image description is optional. If you are uploading pictures for an Article choose the
System Gallery from the drop down menu.
Batch of Image Files
To load a batch of files, use the
Browse button for each of the fields in the lower
Batch Upload area. Only 6 files can be loaded per batch at a time
After selecting the files to upload, press on the
upload button at the bottom of the
Upload page
Upload Results
After uploading the image(s), the system will return back thumbnails of all the images entered into the system. Here you can note the image ID number to use in the article or
Browse the Gallery to view detailed image information to use in the articles.
Viewing the System Gallery
Viewing the System Gallery can be accomplished by once again going to the
Image galleries menu parent and this time selecting
Galleries. Then choose to view the
System Gallery in the list of galleries in order to see the images just uploaded such as below.
Image Detail
Click on the thumb nail to view the full sized image and view the links that you can use in articles or wikis to present the image. Either one (image ID or image name) can be used.
Using in an Article or Wiki
Simply take the link from the details page and paste in the edit field of the article or wiki to present the image.
